This was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kateryna Pavlichenko today, August 3, during a round table with the participation of the leadership of the National Guard of Ukraine and the central executive bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Kateryna Pavlichenko reported that the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a study of infrastructure conditions and material and technical support of civil servants, military personnel, police officers and members of the civil protection service of both sexes, taking into account the principle of equal rights and opportunities. The relevant analysis was carried out with the assistance of the UN Office for Women in Ukraine, which is a strategic and permanent partner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in promoting gender policy.

“Despite the fact that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is one of the leading ministries in the implementation of gender policy, we do not stop there. Such a study has been carried out for the first time, and its results will certainly be reflected in further work,” the deputy minister said.

Olga Perunova, Head of the Gender Equality Department of the Human Rights Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, presented the results of the study, which became the basis for developing recommendations and determining further steps for practical implementation during management decisions.

The representative of the UN Office for Women in Ukraine Svitlana Zakynytska noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs remains a strategic partner of UN Women in the field of gender equality. “Our organization has been actively cooperating with the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 2017.
We assist in promoting policies aimed at ensuring gender equality. The comprehensive work carried out in the study of infrastructure issues helps to assess the current situation and determine the action plan for the future. We are ready to continue to support the Ministry of Internal Affairs in various issues of strategic development,” said Svitlana Zabinnytska.

In addition, during the round table, Kateryna Pavlichenko said that since February, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been conducting practical classes on the implementation of a gender-oriented approach in the budget process.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has a working group, which includes all departments of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and to date today, 16 practical classes on the application of a gender-oriented approach have already been held, which were completed by 58 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And a gender analysis of 12 budget programs has already been carried out and recommendations for the inclusion of gender aspects in budget programs for subsequent periods have been developed. The results of the analysis of budget programs showed that there are gender gaps and they affect the quality of service provision and service performance. Therefore, our task is to ensure equal rights and opportunities,” the Deputy Minister noted.

“I am confident that the consolidation of efforts in these areas will help to make the right management decisions, find rational ways to solve problematic issues and, most importantly, to do everything possible to improve the situation of each and every one of our employees, police and military, who are the main and non-destructive link of our system,” she concluded Ekaterina Pavlichenko.
