The Kiev city police started the recruitment of candidates to serve as police precinct inspectors and investigators (PHOTO, VIDEO)

MIA plans to recruit 220 police officers to the metropolitan police. This was reported during the joint press briefing on July 13 which was  attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze and the Head of  the Kiev city police Andrew Kryschenko.

Arsen Avakov has announced the start of an open competitive selection for the vacant positions of 90 police precinct inspectors and 130 investigators in the city of Kiev.  The prospective candidates can already apply on-line.  The application form is posted on the official website of the metropolitan police.  Applications will be accepted till August 11, 2016.

The Minister of Internal Affairs noted that on July 13 began the process of updating and staff formation of the Kiev city police in accordance with the latest requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police".

"It is important to understand that the quality of the new police force will be determined by the quality of the people whom we will be able to engage during such competitive selections with the high standards of requirements.  Therefore, we are constantly improving our tests, approaches and changing the algorithms to achieve the highest level of professionalism of our officers"- said Arsen Avakov.

According to the new legislation a police commission was established in Kiev, which included the representatives of the Kiev city council as well as the officials from the MIA and the National Police.  The process of updating and the staff formation of the Kiev city police is going in accordance with the current legislation.

The Head of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze informed that in the future the recruitment of people to serve in the police will be held permanently.  She reminded that a similar procedure of recruitment of candidates to serve as the police precinct inspectors and investigators has been already completed in the Kiev region.  All information about applicants is transferred to the police commissions, which  thoroughly check it.

"So do not think that we let this process to play itself out" - said Khatia Dekanoidze, answering journalists' questions about possibility that the former militiamen could  be hired to serve in the new police.

Anybody can apply if he/she meets the selection criteria and professional requirements.
Then each candidate will have to pass six-step selection process, including general and professional skills test, medical commission, physical fitness test, psychological testing, interviews and security check.

The Head of the Kiev city police Andrew Kryschenko reported that the Kiev Police Commission yesterday held its first meeting.
