Soldiers of the special force unit «KORD» joined the ranks of the National Police (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

On May 6, 2016, in Kharkov 35 fighters of the special force police unit "KORD" (Corps of Prompt Immediate Action) received their certificates of  training. They completed very tough eight-week long training course. These 35 fighters were selected from nearly five hundred applicants. Freshly trained special force unit will serve in the Kharkov region.

 


The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman, the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the Head of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze, the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt and others.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov reported that the “KORD” program has already been launched in 18 cities of Ukraine and by the end of 2016 - beginning of 2017 all territorial departments of the National Police in regional centers will get their "KORD" units.

"Program of creation of "KORD" started last year. We launched it with the support of our partners from the US. All future fighters passed extremely tough tests and proved that they deserve to serve their country. We are proud of you and want the whole staff of the National Police to be just as professional as you"- said Arsen Avakov.
The Head of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze thanked all people involved in this program.

"Our country should have and observe the modern standards of police work in order to develop as a democratic, European and civilized country. Most importantly, we have you – the people who will defend the honor of the National Police of Ukraine and their country "- stressed  Khatia Dekanoidze.

Addressing the audience, US Ambassador to Ukraine Jeffrey Pyatt noted that the US Government was very proud of its partnership with the Government of Ukraine, helping to create the new National Police.
"You are bringing this country a hope that units such as yours will observe democratic standards and will defend new values in Ukraine. The biggest asset that you have today is a public trust that you have deserved. This graduation is a sign of great progress, which you have achieved. You will serve in the Kharkov region, where lies the eastern border of the European democracy"- said Geoffrey R. Pyatt.

After graduation ceremony "KORD" fighters demonstrated a number of tactical and fire methods that they will use in the future to neutralize criminals efficiently. In particular, they demonstrated fight against the enemy at short distances using the knife fighting technique. Commandos also demonstrated methods of vehicle blocking and neutralization of armed offenders using the cars.

At the end "KORD" soldiers fought a mock combat using live ammunition, demonstrating methods of hostage release within the premises with sniper fire support.

Let us remind, "KORD" is a completely new, unique and versatile special force unit of the National Police of Ukraine. Its main objectives are detention of the especially dangerous armed criminals and organized criminal groups, hostage release, etc.
