Arsen Avakov: «The effectiveness of the police depends on proper functioning of the policemen and public trust» (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

He stressed that reform of the MIA and National Police is one of the first reforms under way now in Ukraine. Anyone can face it and feel it personally. And if this reform fails, it will be a very serious blow to the expectations of Ukrainian society.
"We cannot afford failure. We are in a very difficult situation now, we lack resources. We have problems interacting with the prosecutor’s office, we have horrible courts. But success comes only with tenacity", - said Arsen Avakov.

The minister said that the next step in reforming MIA will be creation of the Police Academy and of the new MIA service centers, which will replace the notorious MREOs. Also among priorities are the launch of new system of local (neighborhood) police inspectors and reform of the criminal detective and investigative units.
