The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced that in the evening on January 31, 2016, 208 new patrol policemen will go on duty  in Ivano-Frankovsk. In the morning on January 31 they took the oath to the people of Ukraine.

"It is a great holiday for us; we worked as a team for several months to make it happen. Ivano-Frankovsk patrol police will be one of the best in the country.  The selection was the most severe.  Only the best candidates qualified"- said the head of the MIA.

In September 2015, 5322 candidates applied for the job in the patrol  police, but only 212 passed the competitive selection and finally 208 persons successfully completed the training course.  The result of such selection: one policeman from 25 candidates.

28% of new police officers - women;

86% - have college-level education (!);

25 new policemen took part in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in the East of Ukraine.

"I want to highlight Irina A.Soldak, who, together with her husband, served  in the composite Ivano-Frankovsk detachment which fought in ATO zone" - noted the minister.

Police lieutenant Dmitry V. Mihalets is appointed the head of the city patrol police department.

"I know him personally - an excellent officer, well-proven in service!  And ... there is a special feature - he  is a highest patrolman in Ukraine, his height 2.06 meter.  Residents of Ivano-Frankovsk, do not say Vitali Klitschko that your patrolman is higher then the champion" - said Arsen Avakov.

Ivano-Frankovsk is the eleventh Ukrainian city where a new police patrol started to work. Next in line - Kherson (February 6), Vinnitsa (February 14), Chernigov (February 21), Kremenchug (February 27). And then - Cherkassy, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Chernovtsi, Rovno, Boryspol, Zaporozhyу, Ternopol, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Kirovograd, Kryvoi Rog, Severodonetsk-Lisichansk-Rubezhnoe, Mariupol and Sumy.

All in all, in May 2016 sixteen thousand new policemen will work in the new patrol police throughout the country.

"We are working!  And very soon in addition to the new urban patrol in the regional centers, in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv regions will start to work the new police patrol system in the smaller regional localities and in the countryside.  With the new approaches, system of police response and communication and new cars.  We shall tell more about it later.  In the meantime - step by step - we are advancing the police reform, and today we have a holiday in Ivano-Frankovsk! "- said Arsen Avakov.
