8 steps to leadership in times of change: what was the roundtable at DDUBS

The Round Table “Young Leaders: 8 Steps to Leadership in Times of Change” was held today at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs. The event is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the foundation of the institution and was held in a remote format. It was attended by representatives of 103 scientific institutions and higher education institutions from 18 regions of Ukraine.

The purpose of the event was to discuss topical issues, new approaches and mechanisms of formation of leadership qualities of young scientists of higher education institutions of Ukraine. Moderator of the round table is Mariia Vakulich, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of DDUVS.

The event was opened by the rector of the DDUVS Police Colonel Andriy Fomenko. He noted that the latest approaches to the formation of leadership qualities of young scientists are a necessary condition for the development of the state.

“Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs is a platform for young scientists to acquire the necessary skills and competencies. This year, DDUVS celebrates its anniversary date — the 55th anniversary of its foundation. During this time, more than 36 thousand highly qualified law enforcement officers, lawyers, deputies, judges, generals, heads of state authorities and local self-government, well-known scientists have become graduates of our institution,” Andriy Yevhenovych emphasized.

In addition, the Rector noted that holding events of this level on the basis of the university is the key to forming priorities of improving the quality and efficiency of scientific research in the context of the economic, political, legal and international development of the country.

Among the participants of the round table were Deputy Rector of DDUVS Larisa Nalyvaiko, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Olesya Vashchuk, Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Higher and Vocational Education, Head of the Department of Science, Higher Education and Certification Examination Department of Education and Science of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Mykola Kravchenko, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of Dnipropetrovsk Region Natalia Derevyagina, as well as Director of the Ukrainian Association for the Development of Management and Business Education Lyudmila Gorokhova. Practitioners and representatives of public organizations also took part in the discussion.

Olesya Vashchuk addressed the participants of the round table. She noted that there is a fruitful cooperation on the current topic ahead, as well as congratulated DDUVS on the anniversary date from the day of its foundation and wished the institution new achievements.

“The subject of discussion will be fully outlined in the reports scheduled for today. This is leadership in times of change, and young leaders in public service, and social leadership. We will be able to evaluate all these developments within the framework of the round table”, — said Olesya Petrovna.

Nikolai Kravchenko joined the congratulatory words.

“You are doing a great job, and we as an administration support the young scientists, scientists and students of the area. This is really a very significant job. In our area, there is a Council of Young Scientists, with the help of which many events are held. In particular, our department has launched 3 competitions for young scientists, where up to 100 participants take part each year. And today we are faced with a very relevant topic,” Mykola Volodymyrovych emphasized.

Within the framework of the event, scientists of the university were awarded, who won the competition “Best Young Scientist of DDUVS”. It should be noted that the competition was launched on the basis of the institution of higher education last year. Awards were presented to the winners by the rector of DDUVS Andriy Fomenko.

Associate Professor of the Department of Forensic Science and Pre-Medical Training Mykola Yefimov took the 3rd place, Roman Karpenko, a lecturer of the Department of Civil Law, and Anna Blinova, a professor of the Department of Administrative Law, Process and Administrative Activity, won the competition.

During the round table, experts presented their reports. Among the topics discussed are leadership and digital culture of the teacher, strategic leadership as an art of life, formation of leadership competence, etc.
