47 border guards who died defending Ukraine were awarded posthumous titles
For the heroism and courage shown during the performance of tasks to ensure the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, 47 border guards of the ranks, sergeants and sergeants were posthumously awarded regular military titles.
The corresponding order for the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine was signed by the Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deineko.
“In the ranks of Ukrainian defenders and border guards, who are the first to meet the enemy on the border of the country. During the war with Russia, the border guards proved that they are worthy sons and daughters of the Ukrainian people. Since the beginning of hostilities, almost 23 thousand border guards have passed through the cauldron of war. Let us always remember all those who at the cost of their own lives defended the rapprochement of peace in Ukraine. Among the border guards during the fighting with the Russian aggressor, 70 comrades died, and 5 disappeared. And we do not forget to celebrate each of our heroes. A few days ago, he signed an order to assign regular military ranks posthumously to 47 dead border guards of the rank, sergeant and staff. I bow low to the families of all the dead border guards. Thank you to everyone for their professionalism, dedication and sacrifice. Let the desire to defend the will and independence continue to be an integral feature of all defenders and defenders of Ukraine, and the Blessed Virgin Mary protects all of us and Ukraine under her Protection!”, - said the head of the border agency.
The assigned titles will be presented by the heads of the border authorities during a meeting with the family members of the deceased border guards.
“This was preceded by a long purposeful work, which allowed to correct the norm that allowed the posthumous assignment of military titles only to border officers. Servants, sergeants, and sergeants defend Ukraine from Russian aggression no less selflessly and selflessly, so we have worked out the regulatory framework, which today allows the State Border Service to properly honor the memory of the brothers who paid the highest price”, - noted the head of the department of personnel management Department of the Administration of the State Border Guard Service Alexey Kharchenko. He stressed that for this purpose, the relevant amendments were made to the Regulations on the passage of military service by citizens of Ukraine in the State Border Service of Ukraine, which is approved by the Decree of the President of Ukraine.
