Damage of more than 150 million hryvnias: law enforcement officers exposed an official in a “scheme” to cut down trees
Law enforcement officers of the Odessa region stopped the criminal activity of the director of the branch of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”.
During 2022 and 2023, the official established a scheme for issuing logging tickets to citizens for logging in the territory of one of the forests of the National Natural Park “Kuyalnitsky”. He did this despite the prohibition of forestry activities in the form of felling within the objects of the nature reserve fund.
According to preliminary estimates, the damage caused to the state is more than 150 million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officers informed the man of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (excess of power or official authority by an employee of a law enforcement agency, if they caused serious consequences).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.
