“West-2023”: six more offenders of the state border were detained
As part of the joint special operation “West-2023”, the border guards of the Chop detachment together with the cadets of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained two groups of persons who tried to illegally enter Slovakia.
The first group of offenders was found on the outskirts of the settlement of Kamianytsya, Uzhgorod district. The border outfit, which also included the operative of the detachment and cadets of the Lviv Ministry of Internal Affairs, noticed how two suspicious persons got out of the electric train and headed towards the state border. The men had with them passport documents of Ukrainian citizens and confessed that they intended to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border.
The other group was detained on the outskirts of the village of Onokovtsy, Uzhgorod district. During the inspection measures, the border guards, together with the National Guardsmen and a cadet arriving for reinforcement, stopped a passenger car with five people in it. The driver, a local resident with a disability, transported a minor son and three other male citizens of Ukraine in the car. As law enforcement officers later found out, the men were to be taken to the area of the settlement of Novoselytsia, where they also hoped to illegally cross the border with Slovakia.
Another “tourist” was detained the day before, also near the village of Onokovtsy. The offender was stopped half way to the border thanks to the advance information of the operational officer. A border detachment was sent to the place indicated by him, which detained a citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Luhansk region, a kilometer from the state border. A cadet from one of the universities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was also involved in the events.
Offenders were taken to border units. After clarifying all the circumstances of the offense, they were brought to administrative responsibility for attempting to illegally cross the border.
