Detained evaders who planned to cross to Romania on an inflatable mattress
A group of men of conscription age was discovered by the border outfit of the Mamaliga department.
Four men who, risking their lives, planned to cross the Prut River on an inflatable mattress, were detained while preparing the craft for the “crossing”. The violators of the border were residents of Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi regions, aged 22 to 35 years.
Three more residents of the Vinnytsia region were detained at one of the checkpoints near the village of Podvornoe on Bukovina. The offenders moved to the border in Gilly's car and could not explain the purpose of arriving at the controlled border area.
All offenders were brought to border units for preparation of documents and prosecution in accordance with Article 204-1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine”.
