At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Teteria expressed gratitude to the Czech partners for the assistance already provided and spoke about the needs of Ukraine against the background of attacks by the Russian Federation:

“First of all, I would like to sincerely thank Ukraine for the support and assistance of the Government of the Czech Republic and other colleagues for the significant contribution and military assistance to the combat units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was provided to us during the period of aggression by Russia. We feel your support and promptness in providing this assistance. Usually we get it even faster than specified in the contracts.”

Thus, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Teteria said that the State Emergency Service and the National Police of Ukraine received a lot of humanitarian assistance from the Czech Republic, including personal protective equipment (helmets, body armor, gas masks), medical equipment, more than 300 machine guns and more.

In addition, the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carry out defense procurement of certain types of weapons and military equipment, which are produced in the Czech Republic.

“Such assistance and procurement make it possible to significantly strengthen the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Service and the National Police. However, in order to fully repel the Russian aggressor and liberate the occupied territories of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs needs even more military-technical support from our allies, including the Czech Republic,” said Vasily Teteria.

In turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Radek Matula noted that they understand all the challenges currently facing Ukraine. He assured that at the moment their priority is to meet the needs of Ukrainian fighters as soon as possible, including heavy weapons:

“We know that next month could be a turning point in the war. So we hope that the speed of our deliveries will help Ukraine win over the enemy. Currently, the Czech Republic is most actively supplying equipment to Ukraine in the required volumes.”

In addition, Radek Matula said that the Czech Republic actively helps Ukraine not only in armament, but also in the issue of refugees who were forced to leave Ukraine due to the Russian invasion

Ales Vyatechek, Director of the Agency for Intergovernmental Defense Cooperation of the Czech Republic (AMOS), was also present at the meeting. He informed the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs about the upcoming deliveries of weapons and assured that in the future there will be even more of them. According to him, direct cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs will help highlight urgent defense needs.

The meeting with the Ukrainian and Czech delegations was also attended by representatives of defense companies who offered cooperation with Ukraine. Some of them expressed a desire to help in the post-war reconstruction of the country.

In the end, the partners agreed to continue to cooperate on the issue of defense of Ukraine against the background of the Russian invasion.

“It is our duty to protect the country. The whole world should feel safe”, — summed up Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Teteria.
