Transcarpathian law enforcement officers detained a group of intruders who organized a channel of illegal migration to EU countries
The Transcarpathian police, together with the employees of the SBU and the State Border Guard Service, detained four intruders who organized the illegal crossing across the state border of a group of illegal migrants. The suspect faces up to seven years in prison.
During the long operational measures, law enforcement officers blocked the channel of illegal migration to the countries of the European Union. It was found that a group of local residents helped illegal immigrants, in particular, from countries with an increased terrorist threat, to illegally cross the border outside the checkpoints within the Beregovsky district. In addition, one of the group accompanied its clients after illegally crossing the border and into the territory of a foreign state.
By the time of the transfer, all their clients were at home with the organizers of illegal activities. Each of the customers such services cost about 10 thousand dollars.
Yesterday, February 18, law enforcement officers prevented an illegal border crossing attempt and detained three Asian citizens and their handlers at the home of one of the defendants. The attackers were preparing for the last stage of the crime — crossing the “green border”.
Four Transcarpathians involved in the organization of the illegal migration channel were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the Vinogradov police, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, committed against several persons, either repeatedly or by prior collusion of a group of persons. The suspect faces imprisonment for a term of five to seven years. The investigation is ongoing.
