Transcarpathian police stopped functioning of large-scale interregional drug group
Transcarpathian police officers conduct investigations in the proceedings concerning the production of drugs on the territory of the Transcarpathian region and the establishment of channels for their sale outside the region. Key persons of the criminal group were detained and “goods” worth 45 million hryvnias were seized.
The police established that the organizers of the crime are four people from Zhytomyr and Kyiv. The men managed to create a criminal group in which the participants had no direct contact with the organizers and practically did not contact each other. Thus, they ensured, first of all for themselves, maximum confidentiality, because if any of the participants were detained, he would not be able to inform law enforcement officers with information that would “lead” to them.
In a short time, the defendants managed to spread their criminal influence in 10 regions of Ukraine — we are talking about the largest district centers.
To distribute the drug, the attackers used closed channels on social networks. From the laboratory, the drug was delivered to dealers, from them to dealers, and later through the so-called “bookmarks” it got to drug-addicted customers.
Transcarpathian police investigators have documented illegal activities of 20 members of the criminal group, including organizers, drug manufacturers, financiers and persons responsible for delivery.
On December 19, with the strong support of KORD and RPOP fighters, a special operation was carried out to eliminate the drug business. At the same time 53 authorized searches were carried out in different regions of Ukraine.
Police seized more than 30 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as 2.5 tons of precursors. The value of the seized reaches 45 million hryvnias. Rough records of intruders with descriptions of the entire scheme of distribution of drugs in the state, weapons and 14 cars were also removed.
The police established the location of the laboratory itself, where the drugs were manufactured: it was located in the basement of a private house in the Uzhgorod district. The capacity of this laboratory allowed weekly production of prohibited substances on an industrial scale and to generate profits in the region of 40 million hryvnias.
All members of the criminal organization were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code and placed in a temporary detention center. Depending on their participation and role in illegal activities, their actions are qualified according to various articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Art. 255 (Creation, direction of, and participation in, a criminal community or criminal organization); 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment, or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues); 311 (Illegal manufacture, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation or forwarding precursors) and 317 (Organization or maintenance of places for the illicit use, manufacture or manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues).
At the moment, it has been established that some accomplices of the suspects are abroad, so the necessary materials are being prepared to declare them wanted. Exposure measures continue. Operational support in the case is carried out by employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Transcarpathian region.
