By origin — Georgian, by nationality — Ukrainian
Otar, a National Guard soldier, talks about the support of Georgian relatives and the dream of visiting the historic homeland after our Victory.
Guard Otar, although he has Georgian roots, considers himself a 100% Ukrainian, because he was born and lived all his life in Ukraine. His father is a Georgian, originally from Tbilisi. With the paternal line, the guy maintains a close relationship. He says that he has always felt a warm attitude towards himself from Georgian relatives. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian aggressor, their support has become even more active.
“On February 21, I celebrated my birthday. Three days later, the war began. The first calls were from my mother and relatives from Georgia. Excited, they called to ask what was with me like me. I calmed down, said that, like my brothers, where I should be: I am in good standing, in full combat readiness. He asked not to worry and direct his efforts to support Ukraine. They are proud to have a nephew and a cousin — a Ukrainian serviceman,” Otar shares.
According to Otar's relatives, Georgian society overwhelmingly supports Ukrainians in their fight against the Russian invader and believes in the Victory of Ukraine.
“I am proud that in my veins flows the blood of two freedom-loving, invincible and proud peoples — Georgians and Ukrainians. The love of the native land, the thirst for justice, for Victory — these are the traits inherent in these peoples, transmitted to me. We will definitely gather at a generous family table and celebrate our Victory, no less than we are waiting for it there,” says Otar.
