In 2023 there were 43 accidents at checkpoints, - Igor Klymenko
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko in the final interview to the National Telemarathon “United News”. As a result of these accidents, 10 people died and 39 were injured.
“When they began to understand the reasons, then for the most part it was a state of intoxication or drug intoxication of the driver, a banal excess of speed, when he could not assess the conditions of the location of the checkpoint and could not cope with the driving of his car,” the Minister noted.
At the same time, Igor Klymenko urged citizens to carefully observe the rules of passage through checkpoints. He reminded that it is not only about discipline, but also about safety - the safety and security of road users, who are driving, both military and police.
Also, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that after such tragic events, the checkpoint is additionally marked with road signs, corresponding bright ribbons and reflective paint, and guards and police undergo additional briefings in order to avoid such accidents and not become victims of unscrupulous drivers.
