“The first place for us is the evacuation of citizens from dangerous territories and providing people with everything they need, and this is drinking and technical water, food,” the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko said on the air of the all-Ukrainian television marathon “United News”.

Currently, for the Government and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the priority tasks are to eliminate the consequences of the man-made disaster at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and the territories of five regions - Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Odessa.

According to the results of the sixth day of evacuation measures, 2722 people were rescued from the territory of the Kherson region, including 205 children, 76 low-mobility citizens. Five people are also known to have died. 982 people were evacuated from the Nikolaev area, 167 of them children. Two people were killed. Also today in Kherson, three people died during shelling by the Russian army.

“We are doing everything to ensure that the maximum number of our citizens is evacuated from flooded areas, especially children, the elderly and people with reduced mobility. Every day it is possible to evacuate about 100 people,” Igor Klymenko said.

Currently, more than 200 vessels operate in flooded areas and areas. The rescue operation involves emergency personnel, police officers and volunteers who save not only people, but also countless animals trapped in the water due to the blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant by Russian invaders.

Rescuers are doing everything possible, risking their lives to save people from the left bank of Kherson region, which is currently temporarily occupied by Russia. From there, rescue requests come from our citizens from social networks and the media.

“For the fourth day in a row, the insidious enemy is shelling both Kherson and the region, in particular places where people are being evacuated. But even in such conditions, we try to save people. Such hatred of Russians towards civilians does not settle in the head,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

So far, no cases of looting have been recorded, Igor Klymenko reported. The streets are patrolled by law enforcement officers who monitor the situation in flooded regions around the clock.

“Today, several dozen groups have been formed that will document, together with the housing and communal services departments and local authorities, the damage suffered by our citizens. In order to receive compensation from the relevant structures in the future. We will pump water in every house so that as soon as possible energy and gas service workers can restore communications for the viability of the affected regions,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko.
