On the occasion of Constitution Day, National Guardsmen were celebrated in different parts of the country
The main document of our independent state was “born” on June 28, 1996 and today is its 27th anniversary. The adoption of the Constitution enshrined the legal provisions, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and contributed to the enhancement of Ukraine's international authority on the world stage. Despite the difficult time for the country today — the sounds of sirens and explosions — our cities remember an important anniversary for the whole country.
Transcarpathian National Guardsmen on Constitution Day received certificates of combatants and insignia “Veteran of war — participant of hostilities”. Documents and honors were presented by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration Viktor Mykyta. From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russians, these warriors stood up to defend our Motherland. The battles for Motyzhin, Makariv, Yablunivka, the displacement of the enemy from the Zhytomyr highway, the liberation of the Kiev region and the heroic defense of Severodonetsk are the result of skillful and courageous actions of these national guards. Today, they protect important state facilities and public order and with honor perform other official tasks in Transcarpathia.
“It is very nice that this presentation took place on such an important public holiday. Especially at such a high level. Last year, when we repelled the attacks of the Russians and drove them out of the Kiev region, we did not think about it. It was important for us to fulfill our duty and protect our citizens from invaders. And today such attention is very necessary and pleasant,” said National Guard Andriy Chmelyk.
On the Kiev Maidan in Lutsk, together with the public and the leadership of the authorities, all those who gave their lives for the establishment of independence were honored. There was a solemn raising of the highest flag in Volyn and laying of flowers at the monument to the fighters for the will of Ukraine.
For conscientious performance of official duties, high performance in service and combat activities, servicemen were awarded diplomas, thanks, medals and valuable gifts from the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, representatives of the National Police of Precarpathia, heads of cities and regions also in Ivano-Frankivsk.
The leaders of Khmelnytsky OVA, city council and Khmelnytsky regional and district councils thanked the guards for their dedicated service to the Ukrainian people, for courage and patriotism, repelling enemy attacks on the borders of our state and ensuring order and security on the streets in cities of permanent dislocation. They stressed that it is thanks to people in military uniform that today they are able to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine.
