“If they come out, we will extinguish” Border guards keep defense on the banks of the Siversky Donets
The Siversky Donets River is a natural barrier that separates the Ukrainian Defense Forces and units of the Russian army. Ukrainian border guards also hold the defense at the front positions along the Siversky Donets under constant shelling. The main objects of their attention: the enemy landing, sabotage and reconnaissance groups and pontoon crossings across the river.
“Guys are flying, you hear them, but you don't see them,” says PZRK operator Andriy: “We had cases, in Kyiv we stood, the K-52 flew, his main task was to spend ammunition, even if he saw that we were standing somewhere — he dropped ammunition into the water, turned back and forth, because they too are afraid to fly. This “Stinger” is very practical, there is nothing complicated here, the heat head is much smarter, it 100% impresses the target - your task is to lead. As soon as the target hit, made an exit, the rocket came out — it will be sorted out.”
The consequence of the next enemy artillery shelling of our fighters is fresh shell fragments, felled trees and 2 meters deep crevices. The enemy is trying to force our warriors to move away from the shore in order to be able to cross the river.
“Often quadrocopters fly over positions, their eagles are unfinished, which by the way our air defense forces quite successfully shoot down,” says border guard Igor: “We hear them first of all, the border guards have a very good ear.”
The border guards equip fortifications so that in case of an attempt to break through, they have well-protected positions to repel the offensive.
“The soil is such that it is impossible to dig in,” says the border guard in pseudo Dobson: “I have broken holes, pickaxes are all there is. It is difficult, but we try to dig to save our lives. Cassette ammunition — we can't protect ourselves from them except to dig a shelter for ourselves. Everything was flying here, they were shelling, lying down and the ground shook. They are still alive, everything is fine.”
