How to reduce the chances of catching a virus on your electronic device
The use of pirated software or software obtained from unverified sources can lead to the infection of your device, the theft of personal data and funds.
We remind you of simple rules that will help you protect yourself:
- Download applications and applications only on official developer sites and official software stores.
- Use only licensed versions, or find free programs with similar functionality from other trusted developers.
- Check executable files with antivirus before running them. Potentially dangerous are files with the extensions: .exe, .iso, .bin, .ini, .dll, .com, .sys, .bat, .js, .apk.
- Download smartphone apps only from official app stores (Play Market, App Gallery, App Store and Google Play).
- Pay attention to what permissions the application requires during installation. Not all applications need access to your geolocation or personal information for normal operation.
- Read reviews of users who have already downloaded the application. Before downloading, be sure to check the information about who the developer and owner of the application is.
- Avoid downloads from unknown sources.
- Enable the prohibition of installing applications from unverified sources and the prohibition of automatic downloading of files, and for the browser - the function “ask for the location of the file every time before downloading”. This way, if you accidentally follow a malicious link, the download will not start automatically and will require your confirmation.
