The microdistrict is located on the island in close proximity to enemy positions, so several times a day it suffers from artillery and mortar shelling by Russians from the temporarily occupied left bank. Already at lunchtime, life on the Island freezes, people do not go out once again, do not let their children out of the house themselves, and live in constant fear for their lives.

To support families with children who did not leave the danger zone, juvenile police officers of the Kherson district police department brought them humanitarian aid from international organizations.

The police collected information in advance about the needs of families and brought only what people needed: food, personal hygiene products, clothes, stationery and books for children.

Also, the youths once again explained to their parents about the need to evacuate to safer areas. Evacuation activities are free of charge, they are carried out by the police together with the Kherson Regional Military Administration and volunteers.

— Of course, it is difficult for people to dare to leave their home, but now it is important to preserve life and health. After our work, the families agree to the evacuation and while there is a danger, we will continue to hold explanatory conversations with residents of the Island and other coastal areas about the need to move to safer areas, - said the head of the department of juvenile prevention of the police of the Kherson region Vitaly Saifutdinov.
