Kherson region needs decisive action on demining - Igor Klymenko
This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on March 22, during a working visit to the Kherson region. Igor Klymenko, together with the head of the State Emergency Service Serhiy Kruk, visited areas where the demining processes of the territory are actively underway.
According to the Minister, the Kherson region is one of the most neglected regions due to Russian aggression, and pyrotechnics are doing everything possible so that farmers will be able to go to work in the fields in the near future. To date, the forces of the National Police and the State Emergency Service have destroyed about 32 thousand explosive objects in this region.
“30% of Ukraine's territory is mined. It will take us many years to mine, in particular, critical and energy infrastructure, agricultural land. Today, the Kherson region needs decisive actions related to demining,” the minister said.
Two armored complexes for mechanical demining DOK-ING, manufactured in Croatia, are already helping to speed up the demining process. With the assistance of the Howard Buffett Foundation, Ukrainian pyrotechnics received them last week. In the coming months, Ukraine expects 6 more such complexes.
“This transport allows you to deport large areas in the shortest possible time. During the day, we can deport up to 2 thousand square meters of fields and other territories” - said Igor Klymenko.
You can control these robotic complexes remotely, using a joystick. The system processes soil to a depth of up to 60 centimeters, withstands the detonation of mines and other ammunition.
During the inspection of equipment and communication with the employees of the State Emergency Service, the Minister of Internal Affairs awarded ten pyrotechnics with the “For Courage in Service” badge and thanked them for their daily heroism and work under constant shelling.
“The enemy is fighting every day on the territory of the Kherson region, firing from the left bank of the Dnieper. But I hope that it will not be long and in the near future we will be able to drive the enemy to where he came from,” said Igor Klymenko.
