Kharkiv police reported on suspicion of “Vagnerovets”

Operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, together with other units, continue to carry out activities to identify persons belonging to illegal paramilitary armed formations and fighting in the occupation army.
During such events, the staff of the USSR in the Kharkiv region established the identity of one of the militants of a Russian private military company. This is a 39-year-old resident of Kharkiv region. In 2014, he joined the so-called rotno-tactical group “Carpathians”, which is part of the private military company “Wagner”.
The defendant fought on the side of the aggressor country in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region. After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, he took part in the battles in the Kharkiv direction. For “selfless work” he received from the pseudo-government the “Georgievskaya crest of the dnr”.
During the investigation, the police collected evidence that became the basis for notifying the mercenary about the suspicion. On October 13, investigators of the investigative department of the Kharkiv region police under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office announced a suspicion in absentia under Part 2 of Art. 260 (Participation in paramilitary or armed formations not provided for by law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
For such actions, Ukrainian legislation provides for criminal liability in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to eight years with or without confiscation of property.
