During the day in Transcarpathia, border guards discovered two groups of men of conscription age who tried to cross the border illegally
In particular, the district inspector of the department “Velyky Berezny”, according to the operatives, detained a man on the outskirts of the village of Kostrino, who was heading towards the state border. During the interrogation, the detainee said that he planned to reach Slovakia on foot, and admitted that he had to do it together with another person who arrived by regular bus.
The border guards stopped the vehicle specified by the offender and found in it the accomplice of the first detainee. During the verification measures, the man confirmed that he also intended to illegally cross the border.
Another three offenders were found by border guards in the area of the city of Perechin. In a car stopped by border guards for inspection, there were three men of conscription age. During the survey, they were noticeably nervous and could not explain the reason for their stay at the border. Subsequently, the driver and both passengers admitted that they were heading to the border for the purpose of crossing it illegally. They said that they were guided by maps downloaded to mobile phones.
All five men have been detained administratively. After establishing the circumstances of the case, the offenders will be held accountable under Part 2 of Art. 204-1 KUPAP “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine”.
