For the first time in Ukraine, a person with a disability passed a theoretical driving exam for category C1
Alexander Movchan is a war veteran from Kiev region. His path was full of trials: from service in ATO, defense of Ukraine from the first days of a full-scale invasion and to serious injury. Alexander received it while performing a combat mission near Irpen in 2022.
After amputation of limbs and rehabilitation, instead of being in despair, Alexander chose a new challenge - to obtain a driver's license for categories B and C1. The man learned about the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Driving School for Persons with Disabilities” through social networks and decided to take part in it.
Studying at a driving school for Alexander was not only an opportunity to get a driver's license, but also a means to feel freedom of movement again. The study of the theoretical part took 74 hours.
After successful completion of the theoretical course, Alexander applied to the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, specially equipped for conducting exams for persons with disabilities. The man demonstrated a high level of knowledge, successfully passing first a theoretical exam for category B, and a week later - for category C1.
Oleksandr Movchan became the first person with a disability in Ukraine who passed the theoretical exam on the right to drive a C1 vehicle.
The next stage is 58.5 hours of practical training on a C1 vehicle. It is equipped specifically for the needs of people with disabilities with manual control.
Alexander Movchan is an example of willpower, dedication and the desire to achieve his dreams. His story inspires and demonstrates that no circumstance can stand in the way of achieving great goals when there is the will and support for inclusive initiatives.
