Dog guards, along with four-legged assistants, work hard at checkpoints, detecting explosive objects, illegal weapons and ammunition.
With exceptional sense of smell, training, and training, dogs can detect things that humans won't notice. They can find hidden prohibited items more quickly and help apprehend suspects.
The commander of the canine platoon Igor told about training with personnel and their furry wards:
“First, for each dog, I choose a dog handler. This is the basis of their successful collaboration. They must be one whole. Dog trainers specially train dogs to perform military and military tasks, because they have a great responsibility — ensuring the safety of citizens, in particular, the fight against crime”.
Dogs are able to identify odors and detect the presence of certain substances, even in small quantities, which makes them indispensable helpers of the National Guard when performing tasks to protect public order. Four-legged dogs undergo special training and training to accurately recognize odors associated with harmful and hazardous substances.
“I got into the dog squad because I love animals very much, my Mukhtar is my friend. When performing tasks, I can rely on him, and he in turn trusts me. As a result of the selection, it turned out that Mukhtar and I are the most suitable for each other in character. I believe, perhaps, this was the key to success in training and our further service”, - shared his impressions, the dog guard Denis.
The dog trainers of the National Guard and their four-legged assistants create effective teams whose work is purposeful, because it helps to ensure the safety of citizens and counteract potential threats.
Guards take an active part in the return to peaceful life in the liberated territories, ensuring their demining, delivery of humanitarian aid, conducting counter-sabotage measures, patrolling and serving at checkpoints.
