Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the title “Hero of Ukraine” with the award of the Order of the Golden Star (posthumously) to the junior sergeant of the Civil Protection Service Ilya Akhmetgareiev
Ilya Akhmetgaryev made his last working trip to the place where the occupation forces carried out an air strike on the city of Bakhmut. Then a multi-storey residential building was destroyed, and people were trapped under the rubble.
Ilya was involved in the rescue and rescue work and did everything possible to help the victims. He disassembled the destroyed structures of the house and looked for people who were under the rubble.
At this point, the occupying forces again attacked the city of Bakhmut. This time, the shell hit the roof of the house, where rescue and search work was carried out. The result was the collapse of the already dilapidated structural elements of the building, and Ilya himself was under rubble and suffered injuries incompatible with life.
At the cost of his own life, Junior Sergeant of the Civil Protection Service Ilya Akhmetgareev showed incredible perseverance, dedication, courage and determination in his work, focusing his efforts on saving others.
