Vladislav Kozyrev - “face” of the assault brigade “Kara-Dag”
Major Kozyrev serves in the 15th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine named after the Hero of Ukraine Bohdan Zavada, which was given the name “Kara-Dag”. He took part in the fighting in March 2022 in the Zaporizhzhya direction. For personal courage and heroism during the defense of our state, the guard was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree.
“My first combat experience was in early March 2022, when I left as a reserve group senior. We left for the village and had to prevent the enemy from breaking through in the direction of Zaporozhye. As soon as we approached this village, we began to be massively “covered” by barrel artillery. From half to eight o'clock in the evening until four in the morning the next day the shelling did not stop,” Vladislav shares his memories.
Heavy shelling was repeated for the first four days, but there were no direct clashes. During this time, the guards managed to equip combat positions and were ready to meet the enemy.
“Our first fire contact occurred when an enemy sabotage group of six to seven fighters came across our observation post at night. The invaders were able to get close to our soldiers. The guys accepted the fight when there were 15-20 meters to the enemy, and were able to repel the attack on their own. One of our contract fighters was wounded then,” says Major Kozyrev.
The enemy withdrew, and jet artillery worked on the unconquered observation post. There were no casualties in the group. Thus ended the first battle of the guard Vladislav Kozyrev since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
Thanks to the efforts of all the military who took part in those events, it was possible to stop the enemy, build reliable defensive fortifications and further stabilize the front in the Zaporizhzhya direction.
