Gas condensate and oil were stolen from wells - the National Police exposed the criminal group
The organizer of the group together with three accomplices established a large-scale transaction of theft of carbohydrate raw materials from the territories of Poltava and Sumy regions. With the help of special equipment, the defendants committed thefts from gas condensate and oil wells throughout the year. After cleaning, the raw materials were sold as gasoline and fuel.
The criminal group included at least four people. Therefore, the operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department together with the investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, with the involvement of colleagues from these two regions, documented for a long time the illegal activities of the defendants under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Law enforcement officers found that the defendants carefully planned their criminal activities: they searched for crime scenes, determined safe routes for movement and transportation of the kidnapped. The attackers studied the time and routes of the security of the object in order to commit theft without hindrance and go unnoticed.
The defendants carefully masked their criminal activities: containers for transporting the stolen - “eurocups” were installed in agricultural trucks and minibuses.
In the future, after settling the gas condensate, some purification or mixing, the attackers sold the resulting products as gasoline, and the remainder of the mixture was sold as a low-quality petroleum product for certain economic entities.
They sold the goods only to verified regular buyers at a price that was lower than the market. The detection of the organized criminal group was facilitated by employees of the security service of JSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannya” and the branch of the Poltavagazvydobuvannya Gas Industry Department.
41 searches were conducted at the place of residence of the members of the criminal group and the places of storage of the kidnapped in the territory of Sumy and Poltava regions.
As a result, the police seized 3 cars, special equipment for stealing carbohydrate raw materials, draft records, well locations, bank cards, data carriers and other physical evidence of their criminal activities.
The defendants were notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (secret theft of someone else's property committed under martial law by an organized group).
The actions of the attackers could lead to an accident, fire, significant environmental pollution, death of people or other serious consequences. Investigators and operatives of the National Police carry out measures to identify and prosecute possible accomplices of the suspects.
The defendants face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
