Military National Guards celebrate Christmas according to the Julian calendar
The National Guard of Ukraine cares that our soldiers can feel the holiday and charge it with a special meaning. Bethlehem fire was delivered to our guards from the Holy Trinity Cathedral by the military priest (chaplain) Father Dionysius. He congratulated the brave defenders on Christmas and told about the history and traditions of the holiday:
“This fire symbolizes peace, goodness and love. First of all, the love of Ukrainians for their state and the unity of our people in the struggle for freedom, independence and peaceful future of Ukraine. May this light warm your hearts, point the way to a happy future, and give you inspiration and confidence in the fight against the enemy. May he protect you all year and bring good and victory,” Father Dionysius said.
Every year the Bethlehem Fire of Peace, lit at the birthplace of Jesus Christ, crosses many borders, it is passed from hand to hand around the world. Traveling from West to East, the Fire of Peace brings light, warmth, peace, harmony and unites all Christians during the Christmas holidays.
“People need to lighten the soul, enter into an internal dialogue with God and with themselves. All of us in this difficult time for the country are looking for joy. Of course, our soldiers are no exception. It is good if more and more people will find comfort in communion with God. Christ is born!” Father Roman congratulates the Carpathian guards.
On the eve of Christmas, one of the Chernivtsi units of the National Guard of Ukraine was visited with carols by the Honored Academic Bukovina Ensemble of Song and Dance named after him. A. Kushnirenko, under the leadership of the People's Artist of Ukraine Yaroslav Soltis.
The local Philharmonic congratulated the servicemen on the holiday, created a fun and festive atmosphere. The artists began the theatrical performance on the way to the servicemen. The National Guards were imbued with the spirit of Christmas, and some even sang carols.
As Senior Lieutenant Julia Klak, who was one of the participants of the festive nativity scene at the Training Center of the National Guard of Ukraine, noted:
“Being away from home, we make every effort so that during this holiday season our soldiers can believe in the New Year's miracle for a while, because this team is our friend, a big and friendly family.”
“For the first time I celebrate Christmas in a military team, that is, with my brothers. Prayer and Holy Supper reminded of home and awakened memories. But we have a good, festive atmosphere here. I am not at home, but I do not feel sad or lonely, I do not even feel that I am far from my family. I am sure that the victory is coming soon and next Christmas I will meet with my beloved and children,” said Petro, the National Guard.
We hope that Shchedryk performed by the brass band of one of the military units of the National Guard will allow you to feel the spirit of Christmas and enjoy it.
