This was emphasized today, March 29, by the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko during a meeting with representatives of the foreign delegation, which was headed by the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Ilkka Salmi. During the event, the parties discussed the impact of a full-scale war on Ukraine's internal security.

The event was also attended by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, First Deputy Head of the SBU Serhiy Andrushchenko, Head of the State Border Guard Service Serhiy Deineko, V.O. Head of the National Police Ivan Vyhivsky, Head of the State Migration Service Natalia Naumenko, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksiy Sergeev and Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service Roman Primush.

At the beginning of the event, Ilkka Salmi assured the Ukrainian delegation of the solidarity of the EU with the people and the Government of Ukraine in the issue of the struggle for freedom and independence.

“Thank you for the opportunity to discuss the threats facing Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression and also to discuss the threats to the European Union that arise in this context,” the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator said.

For his part, Igor Klymenko stressed that Russia's aggressive war leaves its mark on the security situation and recalled that the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs take an active part in repelling armed aggression and constitute four forces and means of defense.

“In conditions of war, our border guards, national guards, rescuers and policemen take direct part in hostilities, restore life and order in the de-occupied territories,” the Minister said.

He stressed that all services continue to carry out their immediate duties, including investigating criminal offences, enforcing public order, carrying out rescue operations and evacuating the population.

“Russia's military aggression is directed not only against Ukraine, its consequences are felt by the countries of Europe and the world. This applies to the migration crisis, energy and food blackmail, cyberattacks, propaganda and disinformation. And this is not a complete list of tools that Russia uses today,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

Igor Klymenko stressed that the consolidation of joint efforts is crucial in repelling the aggression of the Russian Federation and ensuring the security of Europe.
