War Beyond Gender
Since the first days of the war, the border guard Marina, together with her male colleagues, has served at checkpoints, observation posts, where border guards as part of the Defense Forces protect Ukraine from Russian invaders.
With the State Border Service, the girl connected her life 7 years ago. “And how else, when all friends and acquaintances around serve in the State Fiscal Service!” - says Marina.
After graduating from one of the training centers of the State Border Service, the girl began a military career in the border unit in Sumy region, the main task of which was the organization of border control at the checkpoint for road traffic.
However, after the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, everything changed dramatically in the service activities of the border guards. Marina says that the right to defend her native land with a gun in her hands is her personal choice.
“In this situation, gender disappears. When a country is in danger, we all have one thing to do — drive the enemy as far away from our country as possible. In my opinion, women do not help men defend the state, but do it with them. Now we are here, and if necessary, we will become even more dense,” the soldier confidently says and adds. “Do not doubt: the victory will be for us!”
