An online meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Czech Republic took place
Today, May 17, a meeting of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky and the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Vit Rakushan, took place online.
Ministers discussed issues of assistance to Ukraine in humanitarian mining, reconstruction of the country after the war.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic invited Denis Monastyrski to take part in the EU Interior Ministers' Summit, which will take place on July 11 in Prague. During the conference, the focus should be on the issue of Ukraine.
Denis Monastyrsky called on his Czech counterpart to support the initiative of the interior ministers of the Baltic states, Poland and Germany to provide assistance with demining to Ukraine. In response, Wit Rakushan expressed interest in supporting this initiative.
“We sincerely welcome the principled position of the Czech State regarding the punishment of mercenaries who participate in the war against Ukraine. Thank you for the humanitarian assistance and shelter provided to Ukrainian citizens who have been forced to leave their homeland due to Russian aggression,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic has already provided Ukraine with humanitarian assistance to the State Emergency Service and the NPU: equipment, work clothes and necessary equipment.
“We issued 344 thousand visas to Ukrainian refugees for temporary residence. This figure is comparable to three percent of the population of the Czech Republic. And if we take into account the ratio per unit of population, we are the second after Poland to provide asylum to Ukrainians. 80% of adult refugees are women, 45% of refugees are children. And despite such a number of refugees, the criminogenic situation in our country has not increased. This is a big argument for us that Ukrainians come precisely with help”, - said the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic
In turn, Denis Monastyrsky assured that the Government is making every effort to return its citizens to Ukraine, but because of the war and reconstruction it is a long process.
