Impersonated themselves as SBU employees, threatened with massacre and demanded money: a group of intruders in Odessa was exposed

Law enforcers established that two residents of Odessa region, using forged documents of employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, threatened violence and demanded money as a ransom for mobilization from military servicemen.

As it turned out, one of the attackers is previously convicted of theft and illegal possession of a vehicle. Police found that the defendants demanded 20 thousand dollars from one of the victims.

The offenders were detained directly at the scene. During their detention, they seized fake IDs of intelligence officers, ammunition with its emblems, mobile phones, $4,900 and other items of interest to the investigation.

The defendants were informed of the suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in the enforcement of the transfer of someone else's property with the threat of violence against the victim, committed according to a previous conspiracy by a group of persons, in conditions of martial law.

This crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with confiscation of property.

Currently, the suspects are placed in temporary detention in the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The police will ask for their choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
