They impersonated law enforcement officers and searched citizens: criminals were detained in the capital (VIDEO)

Scammers promised men of conscription age for monetary reward assistance in removal from the military register. The group included residents of the capital, who represented themselves as police officers, the TCC and other law enforcement agencies, seized the funds of citizens.

Each of the defendants performed their role — developed a plan and methods for committing crimes, searched for perpetrators and cars used by members of the group. Some of the participants have criminal experience for serious crimes and have been repeatedly detained by police. So, they cheated UAH 1.7 million from one of the victims.

For a long time, attackers under different pretexts to solve this issue demanded different amounts from the husband. When the victim refused to pay them funds, the defendants forcibly put him in their car and forced him to transfer funds to the bank card of a member of the criminal group with physical threats.

On March 8, operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in Kyiv city, investigators of the Pechersk Police Department with the strong support of the special officers of the DSR detained the organizer and two members of the group.

Weapons were seized from the detainees on the spot. Also, according to the results of searches at the places of residence of persons involved in criminal activity, a pump gun, a Makarov pistol, bank cards, a laptop, mobile phones, cars were seized.

Three detainees and another member of the group have now been informed of suspicions. Depending on the role and participation in criminal activity, the actions of suspects are qualified:

- Part 5 of Article 190 (fraud),

- Part 2 of Art. 146 (unlawful imprisonment),

- Part 4 of Art. 189 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Prosecutors of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office have already appealed to the court with a request to choose preventive measures in the form of detention.

Further measures to collect the evidence base to bring other persons involved to justice are ongoing.

The maximum penalty for incriminating articles, which may threaten the defendants, is up to 12 years in prison.
