From 5000 to 7000 US dollars for crossing the border: organizers of illegal migration channel detained in Transcarpathia
The channel was organized by father and son. They helped men of conscription age to leave for Hungary, bypassing official checkpoints.
The scheme of illegal departure was blocked by the operatives of the Strategic Investigation Department in the Transcarpathian region of the National Police together with law enforcement colleagues. Residents of Mukachevo - father and son - are involved in its organization, as established by the police.
They searched for citizens who intend to illegally leave Ukraine, provided their delivery to Mukachevo, and from there they helped to cross the border, bypassing official checkpoints. For these services, they took from 5000 to 7000 US dollars per person. The funds were received in two stages — before and after the crossing.
On June 28, law enforcement officers detained two defendants during an attempt to transport a group of people across the border. The day before, the detainees received $8,000 as an advance. After a successful crossing of the border, citizens were to receive another 11,000 US dollars.
On June 29, detainees in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine were informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of choosing preventive measures is being resolved. For the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, they can face from seven to nine years in prison.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by TU SBR, located in the city. Lviv, under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense of the Western Region.
