Explosion of tourist gas cylinder in Poltava: three people hospitalized
On August 6, at about 22 o'clock, a report was received from citizens about a powerful explosion on the third floor of a nine-story building located on Kvituchiy Street in Poltava, to the department №1 (Kiev district of the city) of Poltava district police department. The police have launched a pre-trial investigation and are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
An investigative task force and police patrol uniforms, as well as other emergency and rescue services, immediately arrived at the scene. Residents of the house where the explosion occurred were evacuated. In the course of the first-line investigative actions, it was established that a tourist gas cylinder with a volume of about 8 liters exploded in the vestibule between two apartments on the third floor. As a result of the explosion, the 73-year-old owner of the gas cylinder, his 72-year-old wife and their 44-year-old neighbor received bodily injuries. Victims with burns of varying degrees and injuries were hospitalized by doctors. It was also established that several apartments of the residential building were seriously damaged as a result of the explosion. The circumstances and causes of the incident are currently being investigated by the investigation.”
According to this fact, the investigative unit of the police, under the procedural direction of the Poltava District Prosecutor's Office, initiated criminal proceedings under part 1 of Article 270 (Violation of the requirements of fire or man-made safety established by law, if it caused a fire or accident causing damage human health or property damage on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are ongoing.
