“You are an example of true invincibility and indestructibility for each of us”, — Leonid Tymchenko at the competition for veterans “Strong of Ukraine”
Recently, the sports and inclusive event “Strong of Ukraine” was held on the basis of the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs. Among the participants are veterans of the National Guard, the State Border Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who were injured while performing official duties.
In addition, the competitions were attended by cadets of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Military Academy (m. Odessa) and the Institute of Naval Forces.
The event was supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, NGO “Federation of Strongmen of Ukraine”, Odessa State University of Internal Affairs.
The honorary first word was given by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko, who wished the participants first of all to enjoy the event and achieve the best results.
“The main goal of the competition is to show the possibilities of socialization, how our heroes can manifest themselves not only on the battlefield, but also demonstrating the spirit of invincibility, because they are carriers of the code of winners. It is necessary to spread such initiatives throughout Ukraine to socialize our veterans. They should see how much the state participates in their life, how much we respect them and under what conditions they can participate in competitions and continue the victorious march of Ukraine and our Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine,” said Leonid Tymchenko.
In general, participants and participants participated in sports such as bench press, rowing, aeribike and kettlebell jerk. The main judge of the competition was People's Deputy, Honorary President of the Strongman Federation of Ukraine Vasily Virastyuk.
After the end of the competition, an award ceremony was held, during which the winners in each sport were announced, including veterans of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine:
- Pyrotechnician of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Mykhailo Marchuk won the second place in the airbike competition;
- fighter of the National Guard of Ukraine Evgeny Dmitruk took the honorable first place in rowing;
- national guard Ruslan Zarovnyaev won the second place in weightlifting;
- NGU fighter Yevgeny Parshakov took the first place from the bench;
The cadets of the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs received awards, in particular I and II places for team rowing.
“I am very happy that such important and necessary competitions are taking place on the basis of our university for our heroes, for our sporting future. You are the ones who move forward, no matter what,” said the rector of the university Dmitry Shvets.
