Veterans and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs honored the memory of the dead soldiers - “Afghans”
Today, February 15, an event was held in Kyiv dedicated to the Day of Commemoration of the participants of hostilities in the territory of other states. The ceremony near the Memorial to the soldiers of Ukraine killed in Afghanistan was attended by veterans and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, families of the dead, servicemen. They laid flowers at the monument and remembered the dead brothers.
Recall that on this day, 33 years ago, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan took place. 160 thousand Ukrainians passed through the cauldron of that war, more than 3 thousand did not return home. To this day, dozens are considered missing. More than 8,000 Ukrainians were injured, 6,000 remained disabled.
After Ukraine gained independence, our military specialists became participants in many peacekeeping missions in “hot spots” around the world.
Unfortunately, today the Ukrainian people again have to defend the sovereignty and inviolability of the borders of our State.
From the very beginning of the war in the east of Ukraine, thousands of internationalist warriors came to defend their native land. Some went to the front line, while others volunteered to support the Ukrainian military in the rear.
Eternal memory to the soldiers who died, as well as to all who laid down their lives on the altar of service to the state and to their people!
