Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted Laws on the activities of the assault brigade “Fury” and exams for obtaining citizenship
This was announced today, March 21, by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Bohdan Drapyaty. Important acts for the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were supported by MPs.
This is the approval of additional conditions for the admission to citizenship of persons who have outstanding merits before Ukraine, whose adoption is in the state interest and who undergo military service under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And also — normalized the rights, powers, duties and responsibilities of the police of the United Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Lut”, who will take direct part in the defense of Ukraine during the martial law.
The Law “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as a State Language” on the Conditions of Admission to Citizenship of Ukraine” register No. 7606 aims to strengthen the institution of Ukrainian citizenship by introducing compulsory passing of exams on the basics of the Constitution of Ukraine, history of Ukraine, as well as determining the level of proficiency in the state language.
“It is proposed to establish the obligation within two years to pass the above exams for persons who acquired citizenship under a simplified procedure. Unpassed exams are the legal basis for deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship,” the Deputy Minister commented.
Drapyaty added that the ideological source of the draft law is a public request, because the petition to the President of Ukraine with the initiative to introduce an additional exam for obtaining citizenship within 90 days gathered 26 thousand votes of citizens.
