Killed and burned a banker: in Chernihiv region police detained a suspect in brutal murder
Police detained a 51-year-old Kiev man who killed a 49-year-old comrade in his country house and took the body to the Chernihiv region by car. To hide the traces of the crime, the suspect burned the body near the cemetery in Kozeletska Hromada.
On July 18, at 7 am, the police of Chernihiv region received a message from a resident of the village of Nichohivka Kozeletska settlement community. A woman found traces of an incinerator near a local cemetery, which contained bones and a human skull. The investigative and operational team of the Chernihiv Regional Police Department and regional police forensics immediately arrived at the scene.
Police found human remains and a number of physical evidence, including traces of shoes and car wheels. The removed was sent for expert research.
“At the scene, forensics determined that the dead man was an adult. The remains of shoes of the 45th size were found on the fire pit. This became a significant clue in the disclosure of the crime. In order to identify the identity of the man, the criminal analysis officers of the Chernihiv region police processed reports of all missing men in Chernihiv, Kiev, Poltava regions. These are hundreds of people,” says the head of the criminal analysis department of the regional police Ivan Andreychenko.
Police officers carried out painstaking work to establish the identity of the murdered man and recreated the events that preceded the crime.
“In the course of operational-search measures, we were able to find out that the murdered man lived in Kyiv. He was last contacted on July 12. His sister reported his disappearance to the police. With the support of colleagues from Kiev, we established a circle of communication of the murdered. By profession, he is a banker, has not worked for the past few years. Previously, he was the manager of one of the banks in Kyiv. The investigators found out that on the eve of the disappearance, the man was resting with his comrade, after which communication with him was severed,” says the head of the criminal police of Chernihiv region Oleksandr Vasylchenko.
The police analyzed a huge amount of information and collected all the clues that could help in unraveling the brazen murder. The maximum number of personnel of the Chernihiv region police was focused on the search for the person involved in the crime.
On July 28, with the strong support of the special unit of the KORD, the police detained the person involved in the murder in his country house. The police conducted a number of sanctioned searches and gathered a convincing evidence base indicating the involvement of the defendant in the murder.
Investigators under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office opened a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder). The detainee has already been reported on suspicion of committing a crime, he faces imprisonment for up to 15 years.
Investigative actions are currently underway.
