The Importance of Voluntary Fire Units
There are more than 1000 volunteer fire units in Ukraine, but the SNS effectiveness analysis showed that there should be almost twice as many volunteer fire brigades.
After all, sometimes the distance between the settlement and the fire and rescue unit of the State Emergency Service can reach up to 50 km, respectively, the arrival time of rescuers increases to 40-50 minutes. As a result, there is an increase in human and material losses.
Volunteers are the first assistants of professional firefighters who respond to fires and emergencies that occur in their community.
First of all — these are not indifferent citizens who decided to contribute to ensuring the safety of the community. People who are willing to give up all their affairs in a time of challenge in order to save someone's life.
What is the effectiveness of voluntary fire teams in communities:
- the ability to halve the time of arrival at the scene of the fire;
- providing timely assistance and saving lives;
- increasing community cohesion and developing the volunteer firefighters' movement.
