Severely wounded scout guard gets married right in hospital courtyard
The fighter of the National Guard of Ukraine with the funny call sign “Bald” for enemies is not funny at all. As a scout sniper, he conducted more than one successful operation, sometimes operating in the deep rear of the enemy. During one such “sortie”, the fighter received a rather serious injury - his foot was torn off. But he did not lose heart. On the contrary, he burns with even greater hatred for the Russians and plans to continue serving the Motherland after recovery and prosthetics. And the guard in the hospital married his beloved girlfriend.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am 24 years old. He was born in Kharkiv, grew up in Zaporozhye. My father is military. I took the oath at the age of 17, because after the eleventh grade I went to study at a military institution, then signed a contract. He fought in the #ООС area in 2018-2019 in the assault part. He worked for some time at the “student”, then went abroad. But when the war began, he immediately left for Ukraine. Arrived on the evening of February 25, already on the 26th he was mobilized to the military unit of the National Guard. On February 28, he got directly to the combat zone.
Could you tell us about the circumstances of your injury?
During the execution of the combat task, I was forced to move to expand the sector of fire and just at that moment I stepped on an anti-personnel mine. Comrades quickly gave me first aid, imposed a turnstile and began to evacuate. It is good that the Russians are weak in spirit. And when our machine-gunner started shooting through the forest for cover, they just hid — they didn't try to chase us, they didn't even shoot.
How did your group act after you were injured?
The guys did everything right. Separately, I wanted to thank our machine gunner with the call sign “Dobrynya”. He carried me on his shoulders through rough terrain for more than an hour — although it is not easy to walk there even in plain gear. He was actually running all the time! My second brother — he drove the car — in order to get me to the doctors faster, literally slipped under the noses of the Russians. They did not expect this so much that they did not even have time to react! Interestingly, along the same route he returned to combat positions. I am very grateful to them, these cells of fighting spirit. By the way, despite my injury, we then fulfilled the task in full, even more.
Did you have any other bright combat missions?
Everyone in Ukraine knows about Chornobayivka, in which the enemy was covered with fire dozens of times — and he returned there anyway. We had a similar forest. We from the quadrocopter saw the accumulation of military equipment of the Russians there, transmitted the coordinates - the equipment was burned by our art. But after a while, the technique returned there! It was burned again, and so four times. Even a child would understand that it is not necessary to do this — but the cubs did not understand. There was another case,
in March. A scout from two enemy units of armored vehicles approached our positions. The Russians were walking as if on a walk. Then I picked up a grenade launcher and shot at the main “Tiger”. The first time I didn't hit it, and the second time I hit it. In that battle we destroyed seventeen Russians and took one prisoner. This case occurred when I only half an hour after arriving at the position, just met my comrades.
You said that you managed to get married after the injury.
I actually wanted to confess to my current wife in August. After this unfortunate incident, I was in intensive care, just regained consciousness after the operation. My beloved was sitting next to her, and then I offered her to part - they say, my new leg will not grow, why will you suffer with a disabled person? To which she replied that I was a fool. And that she will be with me so that it does not happen, until the end. Then I realized that there is no need to wait until August, we need to get married now. Friends organized an exit ceremony, which took place in front of the hospital building, on benches for rest. Now, after the end of the war, I plan to make a real wedding - with a wedding dress for my wife and a loud celebration.
What do you plan to do in the future?
I am waiting for prosthetics - doctors say that with the prosthesis I will not even limp. I really want to return to the front line and continue to beat the enemy — especially after the case in Olenovka, when the Putins killed our prisoners. However, if there is no urgent need for my presence on the front line, I will start training our fighters. I tried to do it before — it worked. Then the guys I taught came to my hospital, thanked me for science. I also want to open my tactical shooting range. But I plan to do that after our victory. I do not just believe that this victory will be, I am 100% sure of it.
