Ukraine celebrates the Day of Criminal Investigation Workers
Operatives who resist crime and ensure the safety of society in the face of full-scale war received departmental honors and special titles on the occasion of their professional holiday.
Over the past two years, the functionality of detectives, as well as police officers from other units, has expanded significantly. Operatives not only fight crime, carry out operational support of Russian war crimes investigations, expose the Russian military and their accomplices, and also protect the country on the front lines.
Deputy Head of the National Police - Chief of Criminal Police Andriy Nebitov thanked each operative for their dedicated service for the benefit of the Ukrainian people: “Today, the work of criminal investigation officers requires the manifestation of superpowers, as, probably, from every citizen. We are in our place, we must do everything so that the enemy does not become on our land, and people feel protected.”
During the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, criminal police officers uncovered more than 2 thousand premeditated murders, 500 rapes, more than 16 thousand property crimes, liquidated 185 organized groups and criminal organizations.
Large-scale work is underway to block the circulation of illegal weapons. In two years, the operatives seized more than 11,000 units of firearms, 1,562 grenade launchers, more than 27.5 thousand grenades.
In cooperation with the counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine, criminal investigation is involved in the detection of criminal offenses against the foundations of national security and territorial integrity of Ukraine. 490 facts of collaborative activity were exposed. On suspicion of sabotage activities and cooperation with the enemy, 1,639 people were detained: 348 persons were checked by the National Police of Ukraine, 1,291 were transferred to the SBU for processing.
