This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko in an exclusive interview to the National Telemarathon “United News”.

The Minister of Internal Affairs noted that this is not a short-barreled weapon, but automatic, as well as grenades, mines and other more serious weapons.

“The state has several functions to prevent these weapons from crossing the border, so not a single weapon has moved or passed through this border,” Igoz stressed Klymenko.

Continuing the topic of preventing the transfer of weapons across the border with the EU, the Minister of Internal Affairs said that this result is the high-quality work of the border service, the work of checkpoints - separately with police and border guards, with police and national guards. In particular, in cooperation with the Armed Forces in combat areas, which check road transport at many hundreds of checkpoints.

“We also focus on active preventive work: we detect shells, we carry out operational measures that will allow us to establish who wants to sell these weapons. But there is another problem - people want to sell these weapons, and it is not always military. This problem was after all the wars, when the common man tries to dig something up. In fact, this is a problem for the whole state, because it is a more deadly weapon,” Igor Klymenko stressed.

He also added that the mentioned problem of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will not be silenced. The Verkhovna Rada in the first reading has already adopted and voted the law on the so-called trophy weapons. It stipulates that within 90 days after the end of the war — the end of the martial law regime, these weapons must be handed over to the National Police. But now during the war, when the law comes into force, everyone who has such a weapon in his hands must register it with the police, after which the weapons are returned to the citizen until the end of the martial law.

“The main thing is to take note of these weapons,” Igor Klymenko stressed.
