The Republic of Korea is ready to provide Ukraine with cars for demining, - Elena Zelenskaya
The First Lady of Ukraine opened the conference “Asian Leadership” in the Republic of Korea. The current event, the 14th in terms of medicine, was called “Asian Leadership. The Era of Turbulence: The Path to Cooperation and Innovation” and is dedicated, in particular, to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Elena Zelenska said that today about 30% of the territory of Ukraine (more than 174 thousand square kilometers) has been affected by hostilities. Therefore, ahead of Afghanistan and Syria, our country is now the most mined in the world. Every day our sappers and rescuers defuse the traps left by the enemy. Risking their lives. They die. Only on May 6, we lost six fire technicians of the State Emergency Service in Kherson region.
“Ukraine urgently needs humanitarian demining facilities that are technological and as safe as possible for both sappers and residents forced to live near the constant danger of explosions,” the first lady said.
She also added that Ukraine hopes to assist the Government of the Republic of Korea in providing priority needs for mine clearance machines and protective equipment.
“Together with the First Vice Prime Minister — Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko and Deputy Head of the Office of the President Rostislav Shurma, we discussed this during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Mr. Pak Chin. We heard about the readiness to provide vehicles for demining and mobile X-ray machines,” said Elena Zelenska.
