In Izmail, Guard psychologists introduced migrant children to teambuilding skills
During the armed aggression by the Russian invaders, the issue of psychological support for young migrants in the south of the Odessa region was particularly acute. To master the skills of psychological assistance and self-help, on the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenska, psychologists of the National Guard of Ukraine hold a series of classes aimed at unloading negative emotions.
Meetings of military psychologists with migrant children, pupils of the educational charity project “Сaritas Odesa UGCC” have become traditional. As the young participants of the project admitted, very often during some emotional stress associated with the growth of negative energy, it is often not possible to independently cope with resentment and switch to another. Military psychologists showed what actions will help to distract from irritation and calm the wave of negativity.
Teamwork is the main thing. That is why most psychological trainings are related to cohesion and cohesion in the team. Children who have been forced to leave their homes and find themselves with strangers often need help with adaptation and collective support. The children were offered trust exercises, where everyone is a link of the same system and without coordinated actions of any of the participants to complete the task becomes impossible.
“We tried very hard to do everything right. Attentiveness, consistency, cohesion, accuracy of tasks are very important,” Sofia, a young immigrant from Nikolaev, shared her impressions.
After a preliminary meeting with military psychologists, the displaced children wrote letters of thanks to the guards serving in the south of Odessa region. Psychologist Victoria read the response of the defenders to this letter. In addition, as support and gratitude, the National Guards decided to transfer to the children a share of the elements of the soldiers' uniform — shoulder straps and wishes with words of support and faith in victory.
“I now have a lieutenant's shoulder strap. I'll put it in my favorite book. I believe in the power of talismans and the invisible connection. This thing is very valuable to me. I am grateful for such a gift,” said one of the youngest participants of the event, first-grader Artem.
The meeting ended with a joint photo for memory and good wishes for the earliest peace, warmth and mutual support.
