Red danger level declared in some regions of Ukraine due to possible flooding
In the Cherkasy region, the highest red level of danger has been declared, where flooding of floodplains and lowland areas with negative consequences of a mass nature is likely.
Also, the orange level of danger was declared in Poltava, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
In Kiev, the water level rise is recorded, which is caused by the work of the Kiev hydroelectric power plant.
As of this morning, the formation of a spring waterfall in the Chernihiv region on the Desna River is underway. In particular, below Chernihiv with an increase in the level of 2-6 cm per day. The passage of the maximum in the outcropping area of Desna is expected in the first half of May.
In the Chernihiv region, flooding of floodplains and lowland areas in Chernihiv, Koryukovsky, Novgorod-Seversky districts remains likely.
In addition, according to the representative of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the development of floods on the rivers of the Carpathian region is now observed. These are the rivers of Transcarpathia and the Dniester basin. It can also be noted that the spring waterfall, more precisely its passage caused an increase in the water level in the water areas of reservoirs within the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions. Flooding is likely there, and because of this, the orange level of danger has already been declared in the Kherson region.
Also, experts of the Kharkiv regional center predict that water levels are likely to rise in the eastern regions of Ukraine. These are the subbasins of the Seversky Dinets and the Priazov rivers. There is a probable release of water into floodplains and flooding of coastal areas, but without mass and only on individual rivers.
On other rivers of Ukraine, the situation is more or less stable, and the precipitation that will fall, of course, will lead to an increase in levels, but without critical marks and without critical situations.
