“All services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are ready to act immediately in case of emergency situations, so there is no reason for panic”, - Igor Klymenko
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko said on the air of the national television marathon “Yedeni Novosti” that in the coming days the relevant exercises will be held with the deployment of sanitary checkpoints and the elaboration of circumstances that may arise in the event of an emergency situation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
“We plan to conduct training with the blocking of roads, the deployment of sanitary checkpoints at which radiation will be measured. All equipment that we have in our arsenal for measuring radiation is calibrated and ready for operation,” Igor Klymenko said on the air.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called on citizens to remain calm and, in case of an explosion at a nuclear power plant planned by the Russian occupiers, to close their homes for a day, until local authorities and civil protection authorities issue an appropriate order to move through the streets. In case it is necessary to be on the street, it is worth being in the respirator that we used during the Covid-19 pandemic. All air conditioners or heaters must be turned off, and any openings must be closed with tape or a wet cloth.
“We have already deployed the work of the relevant headquarters. In these headquarters there are energy workers, employees of the State Emergency Service, and the headquarters also includes police and doctors in order to develop and clearly communicate to our citizens the rules of conduct in the event of an emergency. All our services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Energy and local authorities are ready for emergency situations, in particular for the explosion at the Zaporizhzhya NPP,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
Igor Klymenko said that all citizens who want to leave the contaminated area will be provided with transport, which is already ready.
