The Government of Ukraine has improved the procedure for extending the validity of foreign passports and pasting photos of children to them
From now on, it is possible to paste photos of children to the passport of parents or extend the passport:
if the territorial bodies/units of the migration service, embassies or consular agencies do not have the technical ability (there is no connection to the Unified State Demographic Register) to issue a new passport
in connection with the need for urgent travel abroad, associated with the urgent need for treatment of the departing person, the departure of a person accompanying a seriously ill person, or the death of a relative who lived abroad.
In addition, a number of changes concern the procedures for extending the validity of a passport:
the validity of the passport is extended for five years from the date of submission of the application for the extension of its validity period;
an application for renewal of the passport may be submitted before the expiration of its validity period, but not earlier than two months before its expiration date;
the validity period of the passport issued before the introduction of a passport for travel abroad, the sample of which was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1725 of December 23, 2004, is not extended;
in case of extension of the validity of the passport of a child who has not reached the age of 16, at the request of his legal representative, a photo card with the image of the child corresponding to the age reached by him at the time of application is pasted into such document;
if it is a question of extending the validity period of a passport for a child between 16 and 18 years old to travel abroad — pasting a photo card is carried out at the request of the child.
