The Government has formed an Interdepartmental Working Group on Coordination of the Implementation of the SOCTA Ukraine Assessment System

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established an Interdepartmental Working Group on Coordination of the Implementation of SOCTA Ukraine Evaluation System. The relevant decision was made by the Government today, January 26. The National Police will implement the practical part of the SOCTA methodology. For police officers, the tactics and priority system of combating organized crime will change, which will allow to build a real picture of the situation with crime in the country.

“The SOCTA methodology will be applied to collect, summarize and assess the threats of organized crime, as well as serious and especially serious crimes. The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers has improved the mechanism of interaction of law enforcement agencies and monitoring of the criminogenic situation,” commented Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Akopian.

The document establishes an Interdepartmental Working Group on Coordination of the Implementation of SOCTA Ukraine Evaluation System in the Activities of State Authorities. The implementation of the project will enable the application of the methodology used by the law enforcement agencies of European countries and will make it possible, on the basis of analytical findings, to determine priorities for the fight against organised crime.

For reference: The Serious and Organised Crime Threat Assessment (SOCTA) methodology is a product of a systematic analysis of law-enforcement information on criminal activities and groups posing a threat to the EU, to assist leaders in prioritising organised crime threats validity.
